Sharing deeply personal matters with others is not easy, and it’s not something I would recommend either. Most people may seem to listen to your worries, empathize with you, and try to share in your pain when you're around. However, once you're gone, your concerns often become nothing more than gossip to them. Occasionally, there might be a rare person who genuinely wants to share in your suffering, but think about it—how often do they actually help? In fact, they may end up blaming themselves for being unable to help or you may have just given them a new worry they didn’t have before.
So what should you do? Carrying your burdens alone is the worst thing you can do. You must talk to someone. However, don't expect the other person to solve your problems, and don’t burden them with your expectations. If your concern is highly personal, be cautious about choosing who to confide in. Words are like a virus; they change as they pass from one person to another. No one can predict how your story might evolve once it's shared.
Carrying your worries alone is the worst choice.
Sharing them with just anyone is the second worst.
Expecting someone else to solve your problems is the second-best option.
Finding a close person who will simply listen is the best choice.
Carrying even small worries on your own can slowly build up inside and gradually destroy you. Don’t try to bear everything by yourself. There are many people around you who are willing to listen to your concerns.
However, choose carefully who you confide in, depending on the nature of your worries. If the person can handle your concerns, whether they can solve them or ignore them and move on, it's okay to hope they might help solve them, but most of the time, be content with simply sharing. Sometimes, just talking about it can naturally lead to a solution.
However, the older we get, the harder it becomes to find someone to listen to our concerns.
